Rosanne & Ron
…are the co-owners of the Market! I (Rosanne) am around a lot, whereas Ron is busy running his other business, Mt. Food Products - and, being dad and grandpa to die for. Both Ron and Rosanne have long been advocates for local foods and community. They attempt to bring those values to life through their work; the grocery business.
We all need food. We all need to buy food. Let’s do it with intention!
Karina
…is our longest-standing staffer! She’s been with us since just after we opened in West Asheville in 2009! As you might imagine, she knows a lot about a lot at West Village. She also knows a LOT about health and wellness, so if you have herb and supplement questions, she’s the one to talk to.
Karina is the head buyer at the Market; finding new products in most departments and ensuring we live up to our product standards. She’s also the one who sets up the great sales we have in the store, as well as the initiator and facilitator of our Terracycle program. She’s the planet’s best friend.
Kathleen
…has been with us since 2015. Kathleen wears many hats on that fun and friendly head of hers. After working as Floor Manager and buyer for several years, she’s now become our bookkeeper and admin person. She’s a pro at managing a myriad of details. She now does that mostly in the back of the house, though we’re lucky to still enjoy her at the register on weekend days.
Paolo
… is our mover-and-shaker manager. We knew him as a regular customer when he came on board in 2022. Though he was thinking he’d be working just part-time for the winter, we dragged him away from his own landscaping business where he managed local invasive plants. He loves to make order out of chaos. He’s got his hands full around here on a daily basis!
Jennifer
…has been with us since 2015. Jennifer has had her finger in many pies at the Market. Initially Produce Manager, she eventually moved into the local grocery buying role. And she’s been our social justice champion; paying attention to the causes we put our love and resources behind. Though part-time these days, she’s one of the primary customer service folks always ready to give you and smile and any help you might need.
Kara
…has been with us since 2018. Always a cheerful presence! Kara loves and manages our bulk herb department, and she loves knowing what you want! So do tell her :) Kara also assists with our newsletters and has been a solid and dependable customer service/cashier presence at the Market.
Jonathan
…has been with us since 2017. Committed to being a friendly, kind and helpful presence, Jonathan has made afternoons and evenings at the market a super-pleasant experience as many of you know. Aside from that, he keeps us technologically awake.
Emily
… started with us in 2016, moved on after 5 years, and, to our good fortune, has recently come back to work with us! She’s a witty make-you-feel-good person at the register. And, she can shape shift a chalkboard into a smile factory. She’s responsible for all of our awesome aisle signs, done during her first time around at the Market!
Bailey
… came on in 2024 as Produce Manager. Super organized and calm, she makes a great produce buyer and manager. You’ll now see her occasionally on the register as well, because she’s one of those that loves to help out wherever it’s needed! Give her a big thumbs up when you’re loving what you see in the produce aisle.
Joe
… is a major multi-tasker at the Market; you’ll see him on the register, stocking, working the produce aisle, ‘working the truck’ on (very) early Wednesday mornings, and now doing the bulk buying and restock! We were lucky to find Joe at the end of 2024.
Kat
… came on board in 2024 as a cashier. We quickly recognized her efficiency and elevated her to a grocery assistant position. She helps Karina with keeping the grocery department, and the sales, tagged and in order so you don’t miss a single sale or a single product! You’ll also see her helping out on the register.
Luke
… came on board in 2024. He’s a welcome friendly addition to our team. He enjoys keeping busy and digging into projects. He is currently assisting in produce as well as customer service and register, but chances are you’ll see him working in various departments around the store,
Gavin & Isabel
Gaven is a grad of Warren Wilson College, and a great addition to the team. Though cycling is his favorite thing to do, making sandwiches in our deli is his second favorite… or it would seem, per his great attitude.
Isabel is new in 2025, still getting to know the ropes and anxious to help in all areas of the deli as needed! Outside of the market, she’s known for her street music performances on the hurdy gurdy.
Anna
…has been with the Market since late 2018, working in the deli and the (old) Sunflower Diner. She later became Deli Manager which she maintained for 3 years, doing an awesome job advancing the deli to where it is now. She’s turned over those duties to Jon, and now works part-time doing baking and creative projects while she returns to school!
Jon
… has worked with us in the deli since early 2024. He now is the Deli Manager! Previously having worked next door managing the Pub kitchen, he enjoys our pace and environment while still able to lead the charge in a food service kitchen. He worked in about every department during the hurricane, where we learned what a helpful, competent and amenable guy he is. We’re happy to have him making things happen in the Deli. Reach out to him with things you like, or the not-so-much things, or your wish list!
Mary Kate
… came on board in 2024. Super dedicated to ‘getting it done’ you’ll see her moving around the Market doing just that, ever-so calmly, when she’s not giving you an efficient, friendly, and trouble-free experience at the register.
Tim
… has worked in the deli since early 2024. He is conscientious, detailed, and dedicated to making you the darned best burritos you’ll have anywhere in town! Also a cat lover extraordinaire.
Jeanine
… came onboard in 2025. Jeannine comes with a lot of experience in marketing, as well as customer service, so she will be helping to make things happen around the Market. If there are ideas or events you’d like to see come to life, search her out and let her know! You’ll also catch her behind the register helping out several times a week.
Guinevere
… is new to the team in 2025, and brings a peaceful and friendly energy to our deli, making your sandwiches with great care and attention.
Kaileah
… has been at the Market since early 2024, coming to us from the old Asheville Sandwich Co. We’re happy to have her keeping things organized and moving along swiftly on the register! And, she is dedicated to you having a good experience at the Market.
Cara
… joined us at the Market in early 2025 we look forward to her even keeled and steady work. Another burrito meister, she’ll do a great job for you!
Susie
… is friendly and helpful, she is great at customer service! After working with us for about a year Susie left and came back in 2024. Currently learning more about the wellness department, she’s a good one to ask if you have any questions. A little by-the-way, she’s an awesome singer and sells her cd at the Market!
Caleb
… came to us from French Broad Food Co-op where he got some great experience in the deli. He comes with lots of ideas of his own and a dedication to doing things correctly and thoroughly. You can look forward to some new ideas he’ll bring to the Market.
Sam
… joined us at the Market in 2024, bringing his culinary expertise with him! An accomplished chef, he is now part-time childcare and part-time at the Market. He does an awesome job with our cheese department, bringing in new items and keeping it stocked up, clean and exciting.
Puck
…. does great work in our deli, and is first and foremost in an artist. Previously having managed Dobra West, she came on here at the Market to focus more on her art and to work part time. She’s been with us about a year, with a brief hiatus to study and practice painting in Italy. Her appreciation for detail translates well to making an awesome sandwich!
Anala
Though only at the Market 1 day a week, we’re happy she helps make Sunday mornings a calm and happy WVM experience for you!
Grace
… joined us during the hurricane when her service job was on pause. So, though fortunately for Asheville at large her previous work is available again, she chose to stick around for a little side gig at the Market. She’ll be sharing her warm and friendly personality with you across the register counter..
